APMA Honors Dr. David G. Armstrong with Award of Excellence
Albuquerque, NM, February 7, 2009 - Vasyli Think Tank member David G. Armstrong, DPM, PhD, Professor of Surgery and Director of the University of Arizona's Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) has been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association's Award of Excellence by APMA President, Dr. Ross Taubman.
A leading medical expert in diabetic foot care, Dr. Armstrong developed the Vasyli-Armstrong orthotic to directly address key problems of the diabetic foot, including frictional and shear pressure forces which often lead to ulcerations and amputation. Armstrong has published more than 260 manuscripts, lectured on six continents and is the youngest-ever entrant into the Podiatric Medicine Hall of Fame.
"I am honored beyond words to receive this award", noted Armstrong. "I think, however, this is more of an award acknowledging the growth of a profession and a field of study more than it is that given to a specific person."
Jenny McConnell Receives Order of Australia Honor
Sydney, Australia, January 26, 2009 - Vasyli Think Tank member Jenny McConnell garnered honors for her global contributions to the medical field of physiotherapy, receiving membership into the prestigious Order of Australia on Australia Day 2009.
Conferred on Australian citizens by the Governor-General, the Australian Honors Secretariat and the 19-member Order of Australia Council, McConnell was recognized for her service as a practitioner and researcher in the development of innovative musculoskeletal pain management techniques and treatment.
A physiotherapist with a Sydney-based private practice, McConnell has worked closely with Vasyli Medical to develop a slim-fit orthotic to support the integrity of the female foot while wearing heeled shoes. She continues to contribute research and product development for Vasyli, combining physiotheraphy techniques with orthotic products to alleviate knee, lumbar spine, shoulder and patello femoral pain.
